27 Interesting Places in Malaysia You Should Visit
Malaysia’s got a bit of everything—lush rainforests, chaotic cities, highland escapes, beaches that look AI-generated (but they’re not), and oh yeah, food that’ll ruin your diet before you can say “teh tarik.” I’ve roamed from Langkawi to Kuching with a backpack that squeaks and a heart full of curiosity, and these? These are the 27 tempat menarik di Malaysia that I swear by (or got lost in).
1. Langkawi, Kedah
I got sunburnt here in 10 minutes. Worth it. Langkawi’s a duty-free paradise where Pantai Cenang slaps, and the cable car to Sky Bridge? Terrifyingly awesome.
- Sunset at Pantai Tengah
- Telaga Tujuh, aka “Slippery Death Falls”
- Duty-free chocolate that melted before I even got home
Interesting places in Malaysia? This one’s top tier. Even if your sandals break (mine did).
2. Redang Island, Terengganu
Crystal clear water. Like, can-see-your-toes clear. I snorkeled, panicked when a fish touched me, and swore never to swim again—then swam again five minutes later.
This is one of those tempat menarik Malaysia where you question reality. And fish boundaries.
3. National Park, Pahang
Rain. Mud. A leech. That’s how my jungle trek began.
Anyway, this place is ancient—like 130 million years old kind of ancient. You can literally hear the trees judging you.
- Canopy walk (not for the faint-hearted)
- Boat rides that soak you more than the rain
Definitely a place of interest.
4. Genting Highlands, Pahang
Fast forward past three failed attempts at karaoke—Genting gave me casinos, cold wind, and the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. Don’t ask me the brand. I was freezing.
It’s basically Vegas for people who hate the heat. One of the 10 tempat menarik di Malaysia that everyone keeps talking about (and for good reason).
5. Malacca
History buff? Great. Hungry? Even better.
Melaka’s this spicy blend of colonial architecture and food coma waiting to happen. I got lost in Jonker Street. Twice. On purpose.
- A Famosa (yep, it’s a wall)
- Satay celup: Don’t ask, just eat.
Pictures of interesting places in Malaysia? Melaka’s got that Insta-aesthetic down.
6. Georgetown, Penang
Street art meets street food. My two weaknesses.
I chased down every mural like a mad tourist and ate way too much char kuey teow. No regrets. Georgetown is high on my tempat menarik Malaysia list.
7. Kundasang, Sabah
Think: Malaysia’s answer to New Zealand. Rolling hills, cows, and the smell of morning dew mixed with… manure.
Stayed in a cabin with no heater. Froze. Still worth it. This one’s a tempat menarik di Malaysia that gives you main character vibes.
8. Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Mountains. Sea. Street market stingray.
I hiked a bit (then gave up), ate grilled seafood, and caught a killer sunset. It’s chaotic but in a charming way.
9. Kuala Lumpur
KL is like that friend who’s both a party animal and a bookworm. One second you’re at a rooftop bar, next you’re deep in Islamic Arts Museum.
- Petronas Towers (obviously)
- Batu Caves (watch your snacks—monkeys are thieves)
- Jalan Alor (food coma part two)
Tempat menarik di Malaysia? You’d be shocked how much of it is hiding between highways.
10. Cameron Highlands
First time I picked strawberries here, I ate more than I packed.
With misty mornings and tea plantations straight outta Jane Austen fanfic, this is one of the 10 tempat menarik di Malaysia I’d move to—if I wasn’t allergic to cold.
11. Ipoh, Perak
Ipoh’s the cool cousin who listens to vinyl and drinks weird coffee.
- Concubine Lane (don’t ask your mom about it)
- Gua Tempurung (tight spaces + my claustrophobia = fun)
This town’s aesthetic. And chill. My kinda tempat menarik.
12. Tioman Island, Pahang
Tropical cliché in the best way possible. Beach. Hammock. Coconut.
I accidentally dropped my phone in the sea here. RIP.
Still one of my favorite interesting places in Malaysia.
13. Desaru, Johor
Brand new vibes. Resorts, golf carts, and beach walks that look like perfume commercials.
Saw a crab fight here. It was intense.
14. Legoland Malaysia
Don’t judge me—I’m a grown adult and I loved it.
They had a mini KL tower made of bricks. Blew my mind.
15. Pangkor Island
Quiet, sleepy, kinda retro. I bought dried anchovies here. Don’t ask.
But the view? Unreal.
16. Niah Cave, Sarawak
Imagine walking into a giant cave where humans lived 40,000 years ago… and slipping on bat poop. That’s what happened.
Stills, 10/10. Very interesting place.
17. Kuching, Sarawak
Cats. Everywhere.
Also? Delicious laksa, riverfront jazz, and that one bookstore I got lost in for 3 hours. Highly underrated.
18. Lake Kenyir, Terengganu
Biggest man-made lake in Southeast Asia. But more importantly? It’s chill AF.
We stayed on a floating chalet and played UNO until 2am. Not pictured in most gambar tempat menarik di Malaysia, but should be.
19. Putrajaya
Sleek buildings, pretty bridges, and that one mosque that looks like a spaceship.
I once had a picnic here and was attacked by ants. I forgave them. Kinda.
20. Bukit Tinggi, Pahang
It’s like someone copy-pasted a French village into Malaysia and said “Voila!”
Great for photos. Weird for your brain.
21. Sekinchan, Selangor
Green paddy fields and red barns. My phone battery died from too many photos.
Also tried mango sticky rice here that lowkey changed my life.
22. Gunung Lang Recreational Park
There’s a mini boat you take to get there. Felt like crossing into Narnia.
Kids loved it. Adults too. Even the grumpy ones.
23. Escape Theme Park, Penang
I screamed. A lot.
Outdoor thrills + water fun = sore legs but big laughs.
24. Morib Beach, Selangor
Low-key, relaxing. Good place to rethink your life decisions by the sea.
Saw a guy fly a kite shaped like Pikachu. Iconic.
25. Broga Hill
Sunrise hikes sound good until your alarm rings at 4am. Still, the view? Magical.
Tried to vlog it. Forgot to press record. Classic me.
26. 3D Art Museum, Langkawi
It’s one of those places where you pose like an idiot and love every second.
Highly recommend for chaotic group photos.
27. Mount Mulu, Sarawak
Caves so big they hosted a rock concert once. Maybe.
Felt like Indiana Jones, minus the danger. And the hat.
